Get Kids Going!’s athlete, Mickey Bushell, came sixth place after crossing the line at 15.09s in the Rio Paralympic 2016 in the men’s 100m T53 final.

Mickey, who previously won Gold in the Men’s 100m race in the 2012 Paralympic Games was disappointed with his performance in Rio.

Mickey said “I always come to medal, that was always the sort of dream if you like. It didn't happen today but I’ll work on it in the future. The 400m race is always my sort of bogey event, so I'm just going to enjoy myself and see what happens really”.

Achieving two Paralympic medals in the T53 100m race in previous years; Mickey was aiming for a podium spot. But, he said "It's a tough one. It's been a tough Games so far and I've been... it's just tough being out here but we make of it what it is. It's very different, every Games are different. That's it really. You've got to adapt to each country really."

“I would like to thank Get Kids Going! for the fantastic support they have given me from London which was so startling 15 years ago. I just could not do my sport without them!”.

Get Kids Going! supplied Mickey with a Racing wheelchair 15 years ago, and has continued to support him year on year. We congratulate him in his magnificent efforts and achievements, and wish him the best of luck in qualifying for the Tokyo Paralympic 2020!
